Mark Dowson
Executive Director
Mark has 37 years’ experience having worked locally and internationally for asset-based finance companies. Mark spent three years in London working for Admiral Leasing, a member of the Kleinwort Benson Merchant Banking Group in a business development role. On returning to South Africa, Mark held several senior management roles and was Head of asset Based finance business at Good Hope Bank LTD a subsidiary of Nedcor. In 2001 Mark joined Citi Bank as Head of Asset Finance for South Africa reporting into the London office. Mark was the Co-founder, shareholder and executive Director of First Health Finance and First Asset Finance established in 2008 which was sold in 2021.
St John Bungey
Executive Director
St. John’s career spans 29 years in financial services. His roles have ranged across stockbroking, banking, and asset management, with a predominant focus on emerging and frontier markets. Recently, this has been mostly in the private debt and equity arena, with an emphasis on impact and responsible investments. St. John is passionate about financial markets and investing. Since joining Broadreach in an executive capacity, St. John has been engaged in strategic partnerships and business development in the renewable energy sector.
Adam Bekker
Capital Box Green Energy Finance Director
Adam has more than 20 years of experience as a qualified attorney specialising in commercial law and tax, and working in private equity and corporate finance. Before co-founding Broadreach, he held positions as a director at law firm Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs, private equity fund manager at Leaf Capital, and head of the Cape Town corporate finance office for Bravura. Adam has advised on and implemented a full range of private equity and debt transactions, from fund structuring to fundraising, making and managing investments, and exiting them. Since co-founding Broadreach with St John, he has focused on establishing its renewable energy business. He has found his passion in the blend of finance, law, science and responsible investing involved in the renewable energy industry.
Jock Brown
Capital Box Green Energy Finance Technical Director
Jock is an engineer with 15 years’ experience in the global energy and technology industries. He has a master’s degree in chemical engineering and project management qualifications. He has led multi-disciplinary teams and delivered business development, innovation, and efficiency programmes. Jock has experience with emerging technologies such as solar PV and hybrid systems. He has industrial experience from around the world including working in New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and Norway and has delivered projects in Europe, Africa, North America, and Asia. Jock is a shareholder and Executive Director of Broadreach Capital Pty Ltd.
Elsa Eksteen
Business Development
Elsa has 14 years’ experience having worked with various finance companies in South Africa. She is passionate about sales and finance and assisting South African entrepreneurs grow and expand their businesses. She has an in-depth understanding of the food manufacturing, processing, specialised printing, packaging, and retail industries. Elsa looks after several key supplier and customer relationships and has a large portfolio of Retail customers who are franchisees and independents.
Kate Wylie
Business Development
Kate has 20 years’ experience having worked with several asset finance companies in South Africa. Kate is passionate about sales and finance and assisting South African entrepreneurs grow and expand their businesses. She has an in-depth understanding of the medical sector, food manufacturing, processing, specialised printing, packaging, logistics and material handling sectors. Kate looks after several key suppliers and customer relationships and has a large portfolio of customers and suppliers that she services and looks after.
Chantal Hugo
Head of Joint Operations
Chantál Hugo has been working in Financial Services and heading up operational areas within large Corporates for over 25 years. She currently specialises in the operations management of the new joint venture between Broadreach and Capital Box. Her extensive experience in administration, billing and liability management along with her great management skills and focus on process efficiency and quality, make her an asset to the team. Her passion is ensuring that the customers’ needs are exceeded wherever possible.
Jessica Strydom
Marketing Analyst
Jessica Strydom is part of the CapitalBox team, where she runs the company’s marketing function while also supporting the business across operations. She oversees CapitalBox’s brand presence, communications, digital marketing, social media, campaigns and content creation.
Her involvement across both marketing and operations has given Jessica a strong understanding of the business and the asset finance industry. She enjoys combining creativity, communication and business strategy to contribute to CapitalBox’s continued growth.
Alongside her professional role, Jessica is completing her Honours degree in English at UNISA..

Nicola Rabie
Operations and Sales Administrator
Nicola has over 25 years’ of experience in the Banking and Asset Finance sector and she has worked with some of the largest banking institutions both locally and globally from Standard Bank to Citibank as well as some South African fintech startups.
As Operations and Sales administrator, Nicola supports a team of sales executives. She prides herself on always going the extra mile in the service delivery department and she continuously provides excellent customer service for all stakeholders.
